@aplusk hits a million, and Oprah enters the Twitter world

I really must have no life because last night I stayed up until 3am watching the race to a million followers between @aplusk (Ashton Kutcher) and @CNNBrk.

I will admit that it was quite an entertaining evening getting to watch Ashton , Demi (@mrskutcher), and Soleil Moon Frye (@moonfrye) from a live UStream.

I was getting a sneak peek into the life of a celebrity and it was pretty cool. The one thing I learned was that Ashton and Demi are much more down to earth than I could have ever imagined. I am now a fan…or a follower of both of them.

The big news for *today* on Twitter is that Oprah (@Oprah) posted her first tweet.

Most of the mom bloggers were super excited about the whole ordeal, but to be honest, I could have cared less. I do like Oprah, but I don’t watch her on a daily basis.

Oprah joining twitter really does nothing for me, as we all know, eventually it won’t be her actually making the tweets and it seems celebrities only follow celebrities. So really, unless I am @ing her all day (and even then) it’s highly unlikely that her being on twitter will effect me in any way.

Which brings me to how mainstream Twitter has become. I know months ago I would mention Twitter and tweets and people on the outside world would look at me funny. Now, I hear about Twitter on a daily basis on TV and radio. This is all to be expected, but I kind of miss the days when it wasn’t so well known.

I suppose I will just continue tweeting, only 998,338 more followers to go…

By the way, you can follow me @MommyMusings.

I figure I’m not quite popular enough to Twitter – so I don’t ;)

We watched the race too! It was so much fun watching them goofing around and keeping track of the count. I never thought of Ashton as anything but a bit of a goof before, but now I think he’s pretty cool:-)

I’m kinda sick of all the celebs only following each other, and yet they want millions of us regular folk to follow them and stroke their ego.

To be honest, this whole mad craze for twitter lately is getting under my skin.

Nell’s last blog post..down here. see me?
