Back to School: Healthy Packed Lunches & Santa Cruz Organic Giveaway (Ended)

by admin on September 5, 2010

in Reviews & Giveaways

This year I made a commitment to my daughter (and myself) that I would pack her lunch everyday. Last year, this was not the case and she ended up buying lunch more times than I liked. Not only is this expensive, but unhealthy, as our school lunches consist of chicken nuggets and pizza…everyday.

Santa Cruz is one of our favorite brands of organic peanut butter. Nothing goes better with peanut butter than jelly, and now, Santa Cruz has a new line of Organic Fruit Spreads that make the perfect PB&J.

The new flavors are Strawberry, Apricot, Seedless Red Raspberry and Blackberry Pomegranate. Fruit is the #1 ingredient (as it should be) in each of the spreads. We found them to have a silky smooth consistency which spreads easily over peanut butter- I hate clumpy jelly!

There are also 2 new flavors of Santa Cruz Organic Fruit Sauces, Apple Peach and Apple Tropical. We were already fans of Santa Cruz Apple Sauce, so the new Organic Fruit Sauces were a nice change of pace for my daughter’s lunch. The apple tropical is my personal favorite. I think it’s a great flavor, and a treat even for adults.

All of Santa Cruz Organic’s products are certified organic, do not contain high fructose corn syrup, artificial ingredients or preservatives and are manufactured entirely with renewable energy from a variety of sources, including on-site solar energy and renewable energy certificate purchases.

These are products you can feel good about giving to your family.

So, what’s in my daughter’s lunch box this year?

- PB&J with Santa Cruz Organic Dark Roasted Creamy Peanut Butter & Strawberry Fruit Spread

- Santa Cruz Organic Tropical Fruit Sauce

- Sliced grapes

- Yogurt

- Organic fruit juice

So much better than school cafeteria lunches!

WIN IT!

Two winners will each receive 2 jars Santa Cruz organic peanut butter, 4 Santa Cruz organic fruit spreads and 2 packs of Santa Cruz organic fruit sauce…enough for quite a few school lunches!

Usually something hot in a thermos – sometimes soup, sometimes a casserole from a prior dinner.
Also pack a snack and fruit, sometimes add yogurt.

Thanks for the giveaway!

I do not pack a lunch for school, because a healthy meal is available at school for a reasonable price. If I were preparing a packed lunch for school, I would pack a sandwich and fruit.

Every day my son wants the same thing. Peanut or almond butter sandwich on whole wheat, an organic apple sliced up, and a baked snack such as baked potato chips. We try to take the regular foods and make a healthier choice on it.
