My favorite Uncensored Mommy Blogger has proclaimed August, Blogging the Recession Month.
“The premise is simple. If you read blogs, then for the month of August, make the “pledge” to click through from your feed reader. No obligation to leave a hilarious comment or send a long stalkerish email (although both, within reason, are always lovely). Just click through to the blog (not on ads unless you are so led) and if you’re feeling generous, click around to their older posts.”
So with the economy being so crappy, and the increasing prices of everything, why not take an extra minute or two and click directly through to the blogs in your readers and help other mommy bloggers out. Even though I am not getting paid or anything for your clicks- I’d still love some extra comments and readers! I am sure other Mommy Bloggers would too…
I really try to eat healthfully. Really. However prices at the grocery store have been getting high, so I came up with a new approach, just buy everything that is on sale, buy 1 get 1 free.
I took this new idea to Publix with me today and this is what we bought. Most of this stuff is for my daughter’s breakfast and lunch time. She will be happy.

2 Boxes Cheerios
2 Boxes Mini Blueberry Muffins
2 Cans Cheetos (for my husband)
2 Boxes Kraft Deluxe Mac & Cheese
2 Stouffers French Bread Pizza (for me)
6 Kid Cusine Dinners
2 Boxes Fiber One Bars
8 Cans Chef Boyardee
4 8 packs Juicy Juice Boxes
2 Boxes Eggo Waffles
= 32 items at $40.51
Not too bad. Obviously you noticed there is no milk, fruits, vegetables or meat. I do have that stuff already and we have a farmers market I have been visiting for my fruits and veggies.
My conclusion is boxed stuff is pretty cheap, so for the next couple weeks until I can review our budget this is what I am buying. Hopefully next week they will have a good selection of B1G1F sales.
Goodbye to the Monte Cristo

With most of the Bennigan’s closing could this be the end of my favorite fat ridden, artery clogging sandwich?
I don’t see how any company could go bankrupt with this golden nugget on their menu…
In the meantime, here is a recipe to make your own Bennigan’s Monte Cristo from home.
* 9 slices whole wheat bread
* 3 slices cooked turkey
* 3 slices cooked ham
* 3 slices American cheese
* 3 slices swiss cheese
Batter
* 1 egg
* 1-1 1/4 cup water
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon sugar
* 1 1/2 cups flour
* 1 tablespoon baking powder
* vegetable oil (for deep frying)
Directions
1. Place turkey and Swiss cheese on one slice of bread and ham and American cheese on another slice of bread.
2. Place third slice in-between and secure the triple-decker sandwich in the corners with tooth picks.
3. Place egg in mixing bowl, add water and beat together.
4. Add salt, sugar, flour, and baking powder.
5. Beat batter until smooth.
6. Dip sandwich in batter and carefully cover all the sides and surface.
7. Carefully place in hot oil and fry until golden.
8. When sandwich has turned a warm gold color remove from hot oil and place on paper towel.
9. Let cool for a few minutes before removing the tooth picks.
10. Before serving slice into fourths and sprinkle with powder sugar.
11. Serve with Raspberry jam.
