I'm going to make this post quick and to the point because I know from my own research that you're here to look at food pictures from Pike Place Market. Am I right? Before our cruise to Alaska, I scoured the internet for the best use of our ½ day in Seattle before boarding the Carnival Miracle. Since this was my family's first visit to the Emerald City, it only made sense that we skip the Space Needle and make up our own cheap eats foodie tour at Pike Place Market. Seriously, if there's one thing my family loves to do together it's eat ... and the market did not disappoint.
Here are a few of favorite snacks from the famous Public Market Center.
Mee Sum Pastry
What to order: BBQ Pork Hombow ($2.52) and Pot Stickers (3 for $2.74)
Pike Place Chowder
What to order: New England Clam Chowder (8oz for $5.45)
Pear Delicatessen & Shoppe
What to order: Retro Soda ($2.25) and Jonboy caramels ($.85)
Piroshky Piroshky Bakery
What to order: Apple Cinnamon Roll ($4.20)
Beecher's Handmade Cheese
What to order: World's Best Mac & Cheese ($5.25) and Fresh Cheese Curds ($6.25)
By the end of the day, we were stuffed! For the most part, we split everything three ways between my husband, daughter and myself. We tried a few different flavors of Retro Soda at Pear Delicatessen and the favorite was Rose Lemonade (very different & very good!). My favorite eat of the day was the New England Clam Chowder from Pike Place Chowder — it's absolutely worth the wait! The Fresh Cheese Curds from Beecher's were another surprise favorite. The potion is huge for the price, with enough to snack on even the next day (we stored in our hotel mini-fridge).
Of course, this list isn't the end all be all at Pike Place Market. We had good intentions to stop by the Daily Dozen for some doughnut holes, Jack's Fish Spot for some fish and chips, and the original Starbucks for a hot coffee (I know, I know...).
I think we got a great "taste" of Seattle with the limited time we had, and I'll tell you one thing, we're ready to go back for more! I really hope Seattle pops up in our travel plans again in the near future.
