My 4 year old (almost 5) is currently learning to read, so a children’s book review couldn’t have come at a better time from Team Mom and Candlewick Press.
The 2 books we received were from Author/Illustrator Leslie Patricelli – Baby Happy Baby Sad and Higher! Higher!
Both books use bright, bold pictures and easy, reptitive words to tell a fun story. These are easy reading for a child just learning to read, and great for read-alouds to your baby/toddler.
My favorite of the 2 books was Higher! Higher!, a simple picture book (with minimal words) about a little girl being pushed by her daddy on a swing. Her imagination runs wild as she is pushed higher and higher.
I loved the illustrations in both of these books, which are really what tells the story.
Leslie has received glowing reviews from magazines such as Scholastic Parent and Child and School Library Journal.
