When it comes to traveling with my family, road trips are my least favorite way to get to a destination. This has to do, in part, with us living in Florida. If you haven't noticed, Florida is a long state-- it takes FOREVER to get out of. We have to drive a good 6 hours just to get to the Florida/Georgia state line. This really limits where we can travel, without spending hours upon hours in the car. But, every once in awhile my family will get inspired to go on an epic road trip, just as we did this summer when we drove to Key West ... in a Kia!!
This particular trip changed my view on road trips, and it had to do largely with driving the Kia. This time, it was more about the journey than the destination. While Key West was fabulous (seriously, I can't wait to go back!), the drive down was scenic and hassle-free. Our ride for the trip was the Kia Rio. This small car zipped in and out of lanes with ease-- within the speed limit, of course 😉 We got an astonishing 40 MPG, which meant less stops at the gas pump and more time on the road. And for once, there wasn't any fighting because someone got lost-- the in-dash GPS took us straight there and back without any unplanned detours. AMAZING!!
While we don't have any road trips planned for now, I seriously hope the next one is in a Kia, too.
Tell me: Are you a "road trip" family? Where was your best road trip destination?

I love road trips!! My favorite was when we went to Florida from Jersey 🙂

I love trips but I have four kids that don't always get along in long car rides. I took a road trip a couple years ago with my daughters and we had a blast. It is my little guy that likes to complain!

Even with eight kids, road trips are always a blast here!

I love to go places but don't like the getting there. Make sense? This is especially true now that we have small children.-

I love family road trips. Unfortunately, my husband doesn't so we don't get to do them very often.

I wasn't too thrilled with our last road trip, but maybe it was the company and not enough room!

We haven't been on a road trip in years, but they were a big thing for me when I was growing up.

Hate 'em, hate 'em, hate 'em. Spending days in the car with my husband driving and not letting us take breaks turned me into a non-r0ad-tripper.

We had to road trip to Michigan (1100 miles) in August with a 2 month old, 2 year old, and 5 year old. It was... interesting to say the least! While they were very well behaved considering the distance, I much prefer flying!

If I had a glass closure to separate me and the kids so I didn't have to listen them every time I get 5 minutes from the house with them in the car I'd like it much more

We don't travel too far as a family. I think that's because our extended family are all either local or 4hrs away in California. We don't mind shorter car rides when the kids are involved!

I have a love hate relationship with them. In my head I think of how fun it will be to get the four boys out on the open road with me. In reality, it often doesn't turn out that great.
