This year I have been really focused on nutrition by feeding my family foods without preservatives and keeping it as natural as possible. At the same time, I’m not perfect. There are times when I’m traveling, or I’m too tired to cook a good meal and I turn to convenience foods. While more and more products are popping up for the adult palate with all natural ingredients, there’s not a lot out there for kids– and that is the type of convenience food I personally need.
So naturally, I was very excited to learn about Kidfresh, an all-natural frozen meal for kids without any artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. Plus, there are hidden veggies inside each meal!
Currently, Kidfresh is available at select Publix grocery stores throughout Florida and Georgia and supermarket locations throughout the Northeast, including Whole Foods, Shop Rite and Shaw’s. You can use the store locator {http://www.kidfresh.com/find-a-store} to see if Kidfresh is in stock at a store near you.

There are six Kidfresh meals available, but I could only find the Wagon Wheels Mac + Cheese at my local Publix. The meals were $2.99 each and I got four with some coupons I received from Mom Central. I couldn’t wait until my daughter got home from school to try one, so I made one for myself. I figured if I liked it, she probably would too. The Wagon Wheels Mac + Cheese only took two and half minutes in the microwave. I could see real shredded cheese right on top of the noodles! The pasta is actually mixed with both cheddar and mozzarella cheese, and somewhere in there are some hidden carrots, which I could not detect at all.
The verdict? It was pretty good! Actually, it tasted just like macaroni and cheese you would make at home– though mine would be a little cheesier. My daughter also enjoyed it and ate two Kidfresh meals this week.
When looking at the Kidfresh meal box, I am most happy with the ingredient list as it is relatively short and I can pronounce and recognize every ingredient. This is VERY important to me and I am more likely to buy Kidfresh over any other frozen kids entree for this reason alone. Hopefully my Publix will stock the other meals as my daughter wants to try the Totally Twisted Pasta + Meatballs and Easy Cheesy Ravioli.
