For the past few years we have been having Thanksgiving at our house.
To be honest, I really hate the expense of hosting it at my house but since my mom is coming from one direction, and MIL in another, it is just what works best.
The rules are- I make the turkey and dessert, and everyone else brings the rest.
It doesn’t usually work out this way and I feel like I end up making everything at my house, which equals total mess.
I will give it to my mom for making and bringing her $50 green bean casserole. I have no clue if it actually costs $50 to make, but she is always complaining how expensive it is.
The one thing I HATE about Thanksgiving is my husband insists upon his mother making her “special” egg-giblet gravy (in my kitchen), which is the most disgusting thing ever….ugh I think I will go throw up now.
When my mom sees MIL making her own gravy, she wants to make her own stuffing. This is after I already buy & plan to make my “special” Stove Top blend.
What is it about mother’s having to make their own special recipes? I am perfectly content with stove top stuffing, gravy from a jar, and Ore-Ida potatoes from the bag.
Back to that Egg-Giblet gravy. It is really gross, you can see the eggs AND the giblets.
Beyond the gravy and the stuffing my turkey usually turns out OK and that’s what is really important. Oh yeah, and spending time with family.

but dad is.
LOL… this post is cracking me up. I actually make all of Thanksgiving and I love doing most everything homemade. My brothers always say, I love when Sis is coming over as I know we will get real food.
