We’re big fans of Ovaltine in this house and since we started drinking it last month, I have found more and more ways to use it. My latest Ovaltine recipe makes a quick chocolate frosting for cupcakes! The best part, it takes a minute to whip up and requires only two ingredients!
It all started last week when I baked a batch of vanilla cupcakes and ran out of frosting to cover the last 1/2 dozen. I didn’t have any other chocolate or frosting in the house and remembered the can of Ovaltine.
To frost 6 cupcakes: mix 1 tbsp. butter (I used I can’t Believe It’s Not Butter), 1/2 tbsp. water (milk would work too) and 5 tbsp. Chocolate Ovaltine.
Whip all ingredients until smooth. When the butter melts down you will have a thick creamy consistency. You can add more or less Ovaltine based on your chocolate preference.
The mixture looks and tastes exactly like chocolate frosting, and only took a minute to whip up with no added sugar! Plus, you have all the extra nutrients in the Ovaltine. Win!
I love how Ovaltine is so versatile- it not only taste great in milk and coffee, but you can bake with it too!
