So much for eating healthy

August 1, 2008

I really try to eat healthfully. Really. However prices at the grocery store have been getting high, so I came up with a new approach, just buy everything that is on sale, buy 1 get 1 free.

I took this new idea to Publix with me today and this is what we bought. Most of this stuff is for my daughter’s breakfast and lunch time. She will be happy.

2 Boxes Cheerios
2 Boxes Mini Blueberry Muffins
2 Cans Cheetos (for my husband)
2 Boxes Kraft Deluxe Mac & Cheese
2 Stouffers French Bread Pizza (for me)
6 Kid Cusine Dinners
2 Boxes Fiber One Bars
8 Cans Chef Boyardee
4 8 packs Juicy Juice Boxes
2 Boxes Eggo Waffles

= 32 items at $40.51

Not too bad. Obviously you noticed there is no milk, fruits, vegetables or meat. I do have that stuff already and we have a farmers market I have been visiting for my fruits and veggies.

My conclusion is boxed stuff is pretty cheap, so for the next couple weeks until I can review our budget this is what I am buying. Hopefully next week they will have a good selection of B1G1F sales.

It’s quite annoying that healthy food costs so much and crap doesn’t :( Our grocery bill has gotten higher and higher but it is just an expense we have to deal with.

Our grocery bills are outrageous and I split cooking now with my in-laws atleast 2 x’s per week.

We all just have to do what works for our family. I buy a lot of generic products these days.
