Walmart and P&G Bring Family Movie Night Back!

Last week I went to New York City to preview the new movie, “Secrets of the Mountain”, that will air this Friday night (April 16th at 8pm eastern) on NBC.

The movie is brought to you by Walmart and P&G in an effort to bring back Family Movie Night.

When I first heard about the concept I was pretty excited as there aren’t a lot of family-friendly movies on television- especially ones that the parents can enjoy as much as the kids.

At the same time, I wondered about the quality and if it was going to be “cheesy”…like many other movies of the week.

But I am here to tell you, after previewing it, the movie is awesome!

“Secrets of the Mountain” is completely family-friendly. There are no hidden innuendos or scenes that make you want to hide your eyes in front of the kids.  And guess what?  It doesn’t take away from the movie in the least. Parents will enjoy “Secrets of the Mountain” as much as their children. It’s got all the elements of a great movie and, the best part, it’s completely well made…This movie could have been aired in theater.

The DVD version of “Secrets of the Mountain” will be in Walmart stores April 17th, 2010. As a bonus, the movie is bundled with a CD of the soundtrack, produced by Randy Jackson. (The music is awesome too.)

I found that the whole movie can appeal to anyone of any age, male or female. My 5-year-old will identify with the youngest character and a “tween” would do the same with one of the older children in the movie. No matter how old your kids, I think there is something that can be taken from the movie, and wrapped around all the action/adventure is a great message.

So, mark your calenders for this Friday night! Order in pizza, get some popcorn and snuggle up on the couch with your family and watch “Secrets of the Mountain” on NBC…I really think you’re going to love it!
