Wanderlust Wednesday: Dublin, Ireland

Dublin, Ireland has been on my mind for awhile .. maybe even a couple of decades. Growing up, I had red hair and freckles– my maiden name is definitely Irish, and my maternal grandmother would always tell me stories about how my ancestors came over from Ireland. It’s one of those things that I’ve just accepted as fact: I’m Irish. But really, I haven’t a clue about the specifics. In addition to tracing back my roots, I really want to explore a land with a rich history, a lush landscape (Did someone say, castles!?) and some of the friendliest people on the planet .. or so I’ve been told.

From everything I’ve ever heard, I can only assume that Ireland is amazing.

Here’s the short this of what I want to see and do there:

  • Kiss the Blarney Stone — Laugh all you want, it must be done.
  • Sleep in a Castle — Every little girl’s dream come true.
  • See the Countryside — Green rolling hills, quaint seaside towns… I can’t even imagine the beauty that emits.
  • Eat Traditional Food — I’m a foodie at heart, and I want to try all the good stuff. Oh yeah, and have a pint of Guinness straight from the source!

What about you … have you been to Ireland?
