Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods

We love chocolate covered pretzel rods with candy sprinkles because they are so easy to make and can be customized for any holiday.

Today I’m sharing one of my favorite chocolate covered pretzel sticks because they remind me of sparklers, which is perfectly fitting because they’re themed for any patriotic holiday, including the Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Presidents Day and more.

Red, White and Blue Pretzel Rods

Red, white and blue are the patriotic colors of the United States and this easy patriotic dessert for a party or BBQ features all three with a bonus tri-colored chocolate covered pretzel rod to celebrate our great nation.

Patriotic Pretzel Rods bring a little extra fun to any patriotic event and the combination of salt and chocolate is always a hit!

How to Make Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods

1. To make patriotic chocolate covered pretzel rods, you are going to start with one color at a time. We started with blue, but the order is totally up to you. Melt your blue candy melts and then dip or spoon them onto half of your pretzel rod.

2. While the chocolate is still melted, generously sprinkle a large amount of the blue sprinkles to cover the chocolate candy completely.

3. Make sure to catch the sprinkles on a plate, as you will be using quite a bit to cover your pretzel sticks. You can then pour these sprinkles back into a small bowl to pour over your next pretzel rod or save them for later by putting them back into their shaker.

4. Place your chocolate dipped, sprinkle covered pretzel rod on a piece of wax paper or silicone mat to dry.

5. Repeat the process until you have your desired amount of blue pretzel rods.

6. Repeat steps 1-4 using your red candy melts.

7. Repeat steps 1-4 using your white candy melts.

8. To make the tri-colored, red white and blue pretzel rods use the white candy melts and cover with a mixture of red, white and blue sprinkles.

9. Allow all of your pretzel rods to dry thoroughly, approximately 1-hour. Then you can enjoy your patriotic pretzel treats, or store them in a covered container in a cool area until your party or BBQ!

Tip: If using patriotic pretzel rods as a party treat, place in long cellophane bags and tie with a festive ribbon.
