I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for the Cigna Foundation, in partnership with Samahope. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
The more extensively I traveled outside the U.S., the more I realize just how lucky we are compared to other parts of the world. We all know that the United States is a developed country, with access to an abundance of clean water, food and health care, but until you see what a third-world county looks like first-hand, it’s hard to understand just how dire it can be for families who aren't so fortunate.
Take quality health care for pregnant women, for instance. Many moms-to-be or new moms in the U.S. are fortunate enough to have access to the health care they need for themselves and their little one. They can feel confident that their medical care, big or small, is done in a safe, clean environment.
Sadly, this is not the case in other parts of the world. Every two minutes a woman dies from preventable causes related to pregnancy and birth.
The Cigna Foundation has partnered with Samahope to help raise awareness and funds to improve the maternal health and safe childbirth resources provided to women around the world. And you can get involved.
The 10,000 Lives Campaign
This year, Samahope is on a mission to protect the lives of women and children in need, and they aren’t stopping until they reach the goal of funding enough birth kits for 5,000 moms and 5,000 babies—10,000 lives. It’s called the 10,000 Lives Campaign, and they are half-way there!
By donating just $5 you can help provide a safe birth and protect two lives! For the price of a latte, you can fund a birth kit that includes the sterile tools to enable a Skilled Birth Attendant to protect a mother and child from life-threatening complications during childbirth. Make a contribution.
About Samahope & The Cigna Foundation
Samahope enables anyone, anywhere to directly fund doctors’ life-changing medical treatments for women and children in need. The Cigna Foundation is supporting the program because of its focus on helping people overcome barriers to their health and well-being related to factors such as ethnicity, race, gender, age, geography or economics. This year’s Cigna Foundation World of Difference grant to Samahope is helping to train local nurses and fund doctors in India to provide treatment and surgery for people in need.
