I have a bit of history with Verizon FiOS. You see, before I became a full time blogger, I was an engineer at a company contracted by Verizon to design the fiber routes for existing condos and apartment complexes. One of the communities I worked on was the one I am living in today. Unfortunately, from the time that we moved in until just recently, the HOA made an agreement with another telecommunications company which locked us in to their network. So for the past 6 years we’ve dealt with snail paced internet speeds— not ideal for a family with two bloggers. I can’t tell you how many times I cursed at my computer screen because the internet was slow. Seriously, it was reminiscent of the days of dial up! Thankfully, the agreement between our HOA and the other cable/internet provider ended and we were free to stay, or go elsewhere. Enter Verizon FiOS.
Since Verizon FiOS was wired for our community so many years ago, we were able to get service almost instantaneously. When the Verizon van rolled up to our driveway it almost felt like it was coming home. I had always wanted to use the network that I worked with for so many years … making the switch just felt right.
Within an hour of our scheduled appointment time we were up and ready with the FiOS Triple Play package, which included cable, internet and phone service. Because of our need for speed, and use of multiple devices at the same time, we went with the 75/75 Mbps internet package. It took about one second to see the difference between our old provider and Verizon FiOS! {Check your current upload/download speed here}.
I didn't have any complaints with our previous cable service, UNTIL I saw what I was missing once we experienced our new Preferred HD entertainment package. Both my husband and I swear the quality of the picture is better, and I love how user friendly the on screen guides are. But my absolute favorite feature is the Verizon FiOS Mobile app, which allows me to stream live TV, change channels and set my DVR from ANY location with my smartphone … even when we’re traveling!!
And with Quantum TV, we can record up to 12 shows at the same time – saving up to 200 hours of programming! Now my husband and I can record all of our favorite shows simultaneously, which is going to be seriously handy with the new fall lineup. Another great feature of the DVR is that we can watch our recorded shows from either one of our boxes in the house. Now, when my husband is finishing up his football game in the living room, I can go in the bedroom and finish my episode of Doctor Who.
Within just a few weeks, Verizon FiOS has become a welcome addition to our home, work and digital life. I'm excited to see what the future holds as we continue to explore #LifeOnFiOS.
