I like to think that I have a good sense of direction, but the reality is that I don't. I've been lost more times than I can count, the worst is when I drive to Miami. The traffic alone scares me, so I'm already on edge when I hit I-95 South. It's easy to take a wrong exit and be somewhere you don't want to be. I know this from experience! One time I got lost there on the way home from the airport-- I took the wrong turn and ended up in a not-so-great part of town. I pulled over at a sketchy gas station, locked my doors and windows, and prayed that I could find my way back from the map on my phone. It took me awhile, but I eventually got to where I needed to be.
If only I had the VZ Navigator installed on any of my previous trips, I would've probably enjoyed the drive to Miami a lot more. Sure, there's traffic, but when you know where you're going, without looking down at a phone or a *gasp* map, it makes things a whole lot easier.
The VZ Navigator is a premium navigation app for your Android, iPhone, Blackberry or Windows Phone 8 smartphone with features like school zone and speeding alerts, natural language voice guidance, alternate route selector, and reliable real-time traffic.
I LOVE how the VZ Navigator app is essentially a portable GPS with a ton of extra features, and the price is just right. Currently, you can try the app FREE for 30 days and then it's only $2/month after. If you just want to use the app occasionally, there's an option for $0.99 as a daily subscription.
My favorite feature is the turn-by-turn spoken directions which includes lane changes. This is a lifesaver when it comes to driving in traffic and knowing when you need to change lanes to get to an exit. While most exits are on the right, some are on the left in south Florida and this is when accidents happen if you're not paying attention. Since the app is voice activated you don't even need to look at the screen while you're driving. This keeps your eyes on the road at all times! Before you ever leave the house, you can set your route based on current traffic. Other useful features include instant traffic alerts, local weather and the ability to locate the lowest-reported gas prices.
I currently have the VZ Navigator installed on my iPhone, but I'm trying out the new Windows Phone 8 next month and I can't wait to see it on there, too. On the Windows Phone 8, you can easily pin your favorite spots to your Start screen and share your location via messaging, email or social networks.
If you struggle with directions like I do, or you just want to find the fastest route and to avoid traffic congestion, the VZ Navigator is an inexpensive option for Verizon Wireless customers with smartphones. Try the app free for 30 days by visiting www.vznavigator.com.
