It is normal to worry about the effects of aging on your skin and on your appearance, but you shouldn’t let this natural process get you down and stop you living your life. Concern over aging can drive some women to consider facelifts, tummy tucks, and other cosmetic procedures, but there are other things you can try before you decide to go under the knife.

Try Some Face-Firming Exercises

69-year-old Barbara Currie, known by some in the UK as the ‘godmother of yoga’, believes that by doing a few simple exercises you can improve the appearance of your skin. To tone and firm your neck, as well as getting rid of a double chin, she recommends grinning from ear to ear, gently dropping your head back and slowly opening and closing your mouth three times.

Lift and Brighten Your Features with Cosmetics

By expertly applying certain cosmetic products, you can highlight your features and correct some of the damage that gravity is doing to your skin. Highlighting color is the perfect tool for this, and it should be applied just under and just above the brow line to open and brighten the eye. You can also use a highlighter to make cheekbones appear lifted and more prominent and to make the mouth look fuller. Lime Crime products can give you a youthful glow with vegan and cruelty-free makeup.

Use Color Wisely

The best and most flattering color palette for women is a neutral one. There is no need to avoid shimmers, which can brighten and highlight the eyes, but avoid overly bright or overly dark, vampy shades. Brighten either your lips or your eyes, but be aware that doing both (or, heaven forbid, using a bright color on lips, eyes, and cheeks) can be very aging.

Don’t Rule Out Cosmetic Procedures

Provided they are done subtly by a skilled and reputable professional, certain cosmetic procedures can help you to look younger in a very natural way. Options include lip injection treatments to make the lips look fuller (lips can start to appear thinner with age), Botox to smooth out lines and wrinkles and laser treatment to remove flaws and boost collagen production in the skin.

Keep Your Hair in Fantastic Condition

Hair can become thinner or even coarser as you age, which isn’t good for those wanting to look young, as glossy, thick hair is often seen as a sign of health and youth.  However, there are things you can do to keep your hair in great condition. Rather than a chop, opt for a layered cut to frame and flatter the face. You should also use a hydrating shampoo to put some of the gloss back into your hair and if you have thinning hair, disguise it by asking your hairdresser for a bobbed style.
