My very first cruise was aboard the Carnival Spirit, which … come to think of it … was the ship that got me hooked on cruising! It’s hard to believe that was over 10 years ago, and now Carnival Spirit is moving on to even bigger ports of call — more specifically, Australia!
Before she crosses to the South Pacific, Carnival Spirit is getting an “Aussified” makeover, complete with a brand new water slide that drops guests vertically through a trap door, approximately 32-feet, before looping around and coming out on deck. It’s really something else, and I can tell you for sure there is nothing like it at sea! The Green Thunder water slide was designed exclusively for Australians and the name came from an Aussie who won a Facebook-based naming competition last year. Carnival Spirit will offer a year round schedule of 8 to 12-day cruises to the Pacific Islands and a selection of 13-day sailings to New Zealand beginning October 20, 2012.
