This summer I will be visiting the island of Majorca, off the coast of Spain. It's one of those places I never thought I'd ever visit (mainly because I never knew it existed) -- but, I'm very happy to have the chance to explore it with my daughter. We only have a day to see the sights because it's one of the stops on our Mediterranean Carnival Cruise and we'll be docked in Palma. I've been doing some research to find out exactly what there is to do there, and from what I can tell, there are some fantastic beaches. A beach day would be perfect because Majorca is the last stop on our cruise before Barcelona (where we debark) and we have a port intensive itinerary.
Being that Majorca is our last stop, anything we do needs to be on a budget -- I can only imagine the ungodly amount of Euros that I will be spending in Italy ... on gelato ... and everything else! There's an option to take a Hop On Hop Off Bus in Palma de Mallorca for around $20 that I'm thinking about.
This bus will allow us to spend an hour or two to see the city, including The Palau de L’Alumndaina and Castell de Bellver, and then take us to a stop for a beach break. The beaches in Palma all look inviting, but I think we will settle on whatever is closest to the ship.
The more research I do on Majorca, the more appealing the destination looks for a holiday abroad. The island is already a major tourist destination for Europeans, but I think it would be equally enjoyable for Americans.
Have you ever been to Majorca? Any ideas on how to spend the day?
