The summer holidays are fast approaching and if you haven’t booked the family holiday yet then now’s the time to find a last minute bargain to make sure you get a decent deal somewhere sunny and escape the less than perfect weather we’re bound to experience here in Britain.

These days, the multitude of good package deals on offer means it’s not difficult to find a holiday destination somewhere sunny at a decent price, but if you’re looking for the ideal family location and aren’t sure where to go yet, Costa Teguise in Lanzarote is well worth considering.

Costa Teguise is Lanzarote’s third largest tourist resort and sits on the south east coast of the island, to the north of Arrecife. Due to its more northerly position on the island, Costa Teguise is generally breezier than other resorts within Lanzarote, which can be a real bonus during the heat of summer.

As well as boasting five beautiful golden and sandy beaches and warm weather most of the year round, one of the big appeals of Costa Teguise is that it’s only a fifteen minute drive from Arrecife Airport; a big bonus when you’re tired out after travelling and just want to get to the hotel as fast as possible!

If you’re after somewhere with a bit of history and culture to explore, the historical old town, Teguise, is only 10-15 minutes’ drive away, where you can wander around the peaceful cobbled streets and check out the wonderful historic buildings, or visit on a Sunday to experience the hustle and bustle of the weekly market.

Also well worth a visit is the island’s capital, Arrecife, home to two castles and with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to visit.

In terms of where to stay in Costa Teguise, the Santa Rosa Apartments come highly recommended, boasting the title of Traveller’s Choice 2013 on travel site Trip Advisor. As well as being brilliant value for money, the apartments are ideal for families, sleeping three adults or two adults and two children. The Santa Rosa has its own children’s pool as well as a main outdoor pool and an inside pool and is only 150m away from the beach, 50m from the nearest bars and restaurants and 1km away from the town centre and an 18-hole golf course.

Most activities in Costa Teguise centre around the beaches, so if you’re looking for a lazy, relaxing and sunny holiday it’s the perfect place to come and visit.
