London Events: Three Unique Activities

London has been at the top of my travel wish list for ages, and I hoping and praying that the day is near for me to (finally!) head across the pond. One of my guilty pleasures, when I have a little free time, is to plan mini trips to some of my bucket list destinations. This seems to quench my travel bug thirst until my next getaway comes along.

Recently I came across an events calendar for London with some interesting activities, beyond all the typical tourist attractions. Of course I want to see Big Ben and the Tower of London when I visit, but I’d also like to check out some events that are a little off the beaten path. Here are three unique activities worth checking out in London.

lady dinah's cat emporium

Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium – Cat Cafes are all the rage in Japan. The trend has finally made it to London, and Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium is the first to offer tea and scones with a dozen rescue cats. If you haven’t heard of the phenomenon, cat cafes offer guests the chance to have a little coffee or tea while cats roam freely around. You can pet the cats, or just look at them, whatever you fancyรขโ‚ฌโ€ all the kitties at Lady Dinah’s are rescue cats, so you’re actually giving love and attention to the furry felines.

vikings-sword

Vikings: Life and Legend at the British Museum – From now until June 22, 2014, ‘Vikings: Life and Legend’ will be a showcased st the London Museum. The new exhibit featuresร‚ย archaeological discoveries and objects never before seen in the UK, alongside Britainรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs most important Viking artifacts.ร‚ย Among the pieces on display is a late 8th รขโ‚ฌโ€œ early 9th century sword, a shadow of what it once was, is just one of many weapons on display that show the deep role that warfare played in the Viking age. The Vale of York hoard will also be shown in its entirety for the first time at The British museum since its discovery in 2007. The collection of over 600 coins, 6 arm rings and a large quantity of bullion and hack-silver is one of the most significant finds in Viking-related history.

Bond in Motion at the London Film Museum – Another fun exhibit being showcased in London is ‘Bond in Motion’. As a fan of the Bond films, this collection of original James Bond vehicles is not to be missed. Beginning March 21, 2014 and running until the end of the year, the exhibit will feature aร‚ย wide range of vehicles, miniature models, action sequence boards, vehicle concept art and props from all of the James Bond films, includingร‚ย Goldfingerรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs Rolls-Royce Phantom III and the 1964 Aston Martin DB5 from Goldeneye.
