Last week I had the amazing privilege to go behind the scenes at Pixar Animation Studios, where I had the chance to meet some of the talented minds involved with Inside Out.
Pixar headquarters is located in Emeryville, California (not far from San Francisco) and THIS is where all the Disney-Pixar magic happens. One thing that I didn't realize prior to this event... Tours of Pixar are not open to the general public. That helped make my experience even more memorable!
So what's it like behind the scenes at Pixar? Here's some photos and fun facts from the tour!
The hub of the Pixar campus is The Steve Jobs Building. This is the main meeting place for Pixar employees. It also hosts the cafe, mailroom, company store and restrooms.
Fun Fact: Steve Jobs played an integral role in the design of this building, which was built in 2000. The building was officially named and dedicated to him in 2012.
Fun fact: Pixar headquarters is built on land that was previously home to a Del Monte canning factory.
Fun Fact: The area is decorated to reflect the current Disney-Pixar release. Inside Out artwork was just put out the previous week in anticipation of its June 19 debut!
Fun Fact: The Steve Jobs building even has a bridge inside! Here's a few pictures from above.
Fun Fact: The Steve Jobs Building is the only site on the Pixar Campus that is not named after a NYC location. Internally the building is broken up into areas like Upper West Side, etc. The Brooklin building is the other main building on campus... Ellis Island is the archives facility.
Fun fact: Pixar employees have access to a swimming pool, gym, soccer field, basketball and volleyball courts!
And the coolest fact of all!?
Luxo Jr. lights up at night!
Inside Out opens in theaters June 19!

Special thanks to Disney-Pixar for hosting me at the Inside Out Event in Emeryville, CA. All opinions are my own.
