I just finished the first book in the Hunger Games series, and I can't help but think if there will ever be a time when this type activity would actually happen in the world. Our culture is already obsessed with Survivor-- I even contemplated trying out for it once-- is it only a matter of time until we have games that end in death for everyone but the winner? Hopefully it will never come to that, but The Hunger Games is a great read and I can't wait to break into the second book.
The Hunger Games also makes me think how well I would fare out in the world if I had nothing and needed to hunt for my own foods for survival. I mean really, I probably wouldn't last a week if I didn't have sponsors sending me freeze dried meals! I suppose I could live off berries for awhile because as much as I enjoy meat, I'm not about to hunt it myself. Fish I could do though. And then there is the whole fire building thing-- let's just say, I never made it as a girl scout!
The more I think of it, the more I realize how horrible of a contestant I would be on Survivor and it's best if I just stick to reading the Hunger Games.
Have you read The Hunger Games? How would you fare as a tribute?
