Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine that I would have the opportunity to interview Fergie -- you know, the amazingly-talented solo artist and female vocalist for The Black Eyed Peas!? As a last minute surprise, Fergie agreed to sit down with us during our time at the #ABCTVEvent to talk about her upcoming performance of her new single L.A Love (La La) at The American Music Awards on November 23 at 8|7c on ABC.
Fergie was everything I imagined her to be-- a ball of light and energy that's hard not to notice. She truly is a creative force, and I could see exactly how she became the mega star she is based on her personality.
The interview took a fun turn when she brought up her young son Axl. Even though Fergie is a celebrity, she's also a new mom and has all of the challenges that come along with balancing work and home life (she lives off iCal!). She treated us to an impromptu lullaby that she sings to her 14 month year-old .. even on the spot, she sounds INCREDIBLE! And in case you're wondering, she looks FABULOUS for being a new mom!
Music is Fergie's passion and she is very excited to perform her new single (the first since 2006) at the AMA's. According to Fergie, LA LOVE is a love letter to the world -- she was inspired by LA artists and considers herself an LA girl at heart, and after a bit of free-styling,the la la la la la came out, which felt very international. If you haven't heard the single, you must check it out.. it's super catchy!
