Every year I truly start out ready and excited about the season of Spring. Warmer weather, clean smelling air, my beach visits become more frequent and then there's the GARAGE!! Everyone has that space or room in your house where all the fall and winter leftovers go to die. For me...it's the garage.
The tree topper I said I'd fix, it's in there. The thanksgiving serving set that we have two of...it's in there. Truth be told I seem to remember having another child...I'm guessing "Johnny" is in there as well (Just jokes people). Every year I loathe walking into that garage and surveying the winter accumulation of total crap. But then I start to remember, Spring is about new beginnings and fresh starts. Cleaning the garage begins to become almost cathartic!
The more stuff I start to do away with the more my mood begins to change. Getting all of that clutter out of the way starts to give me a fresh perspective on things. This garage isn't half full, it's half empty!! I start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, as the Halloween decorations we were finally going to put up, find there way to a new home. The blow up lawn Cupid that my home owners association deemed "unacceptable", he's going "bye-bye". Little by little, the garage ( a cavernous garage ) begins to look clean, not only clean, but organized as well. All of the tools have a place to go, the bikes fit perfectly in the corner and you can finally park the car in the...wait for it...GARAGE!!
Although "Spring Cleaning" usually sneaks up on all of us, don't fear it...embrace it. Use the Spring season as a way to get rid of the clutter, even if you have to hire a moving service to take it away. The sooner we all get it done the sooner we can all get to those summer activities we look forward to. I myself, I'm going to go sit in the garage and read a good book. Why not, I finally found the mini-fridge that had all the beer in it while I was cleaning!
