I was just thinking today, it's already October, and next month is November-- before I blink, it's going to be Christmas! It seems as if I don't start thinking about the holidays now, they're going to hit me at the last minute.
So, I've come up with 10 holiday planning tips that should help you (and me) make it through the season in one piece.
1. Start Christmas Shopping ASAP - I've found if I always have Christmas on the brain while I'm doing online shopping, I can score better deals and have all my gifts wrapped and ready before December. Amazon is a lifesaver. I keep up with the deals weekly and take advantage of subscribe and save and free shipping with $25 purchase.
2. Start planning your holiday menus now - If you know what you're cooking, you can stock up on in-store grocery deals and freeze, or keep in the pantry.
3. Order Christmas cards before Thanksgiving. I love sending out unique cards, and getting them in advance allows me the time I need to get them sent out. Storkie has some stylish holiday cards that are perfect for the occasion! Check out-- Storkie Christmas Cards.
4. A great tip for organizing and storing Christmas decorations is to re-use egg cartons. Small glass balls and other tree trimming can fit easily in the egg holders. Once full, they stack nicely in storage bins!
5. Safety is extra important around the holidays. Be sure to thoroughly check all lights and other decorations that use electricity. Ensure outside Christmas lights, decorations and extension cords are rated for outside use. Lights intended for indoor-only use bear green holographic UL Marks. Light strings intended for indoor and outdoor use bear red holographic UL Marks.
6. Plan your holiday shopping lists in advance and make sure everyone you need to buy for is listed --believe me, I've forgotten a few family members in the past!
7. Don't forget teachers! Store gift cards are great for teachers, but for inexpensive gifts, Sam's Club has greatgift bundles that can be broken up and give to multiple recipients.
8. Purchase wrapping paper at the dollar store or Dollar Tree as soon as you see it available in store. By buying early you get the best selection-- just don't forget the tape!
9. Print shipping labels online with paypal to avoid standing in line at the post office. If shipping priority, you can get free boxes and envelopes delivered to your home for free and the mail man will pick up once posted and ready 🙂
10. Enjoy the holidays and don't stress if you don't get everything done in time, even with planning. Enjoy your family, because that's what the holidays are all about!
