When it comes to planning the perfect holiday, there is one question that you need to ask yourself: How far are you willing to travel to find paradise? The Maldives, an island chain located off the southwest corner of India, is a long haul destination. If you check out Virgin Holidays, they are great for long haul destinations. If you are going to make it through that epic plane ride without going stir crazy, there better be an endless supply of in-flight movies. However, while the plane ride might leave you feeling temporarily jet-lagged, once you step foot in Male, the capital of this 1,000 island chain, you will see that every connection and layover was worth it.

The Pursuit of Perfect Weather

Is it possible for a place to have perfect weather throughout the year? You better believe it. In the Maldives, the lemony, yellow light sparkles off the white sand and turquoise waters 365 days of the year. Thatรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs right: Goodbye grey skies, hello blue vistas. This gem-like archipelago is a no worries type of place, where every day has a slow, tranquil and relaxed rhythm. The biggest decision that you are going to have throughout the day is deciding between going swimming, sunbathing or snorkeling. Of course, the Maldives has over 1000 beaches, so deciding where you are going stretch out your towel might take some consideration.

A Place to Call Home

It does not matter where you travel, the idea is to find a place that you can call home. The Bandos Island Resort and Spa is the perfect setting for your holiday. Surrounded by lush green vegetation, this resort has its own crescent-shaped beach and crystal-clear lagoon. Furthermore, it has one of the best diving reefs in the Maldives, and the PADI dive center, which is located at the resort, has a team of instructors who will teach you how to dive. This is your once-in-a-lifetime chance to see sharks, turtles and stingrays in their natural setting.

For those of you who have some trepidation about diving, there are plenty of other highlights and amenities at the Bandos Island Resort and Spa. From floodlit tennis courts and billiards to windsurfing and catamaran sailing, there are enough activities to make you feel like a jet setter. You can spend a day at the spa and then enjoy dinner at one of the resortรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs three restaurants.

Sensuous and secluded, the Maldives is a special occasion type of holiday. It is the kind of place you go for a honeymoon or to renew your vows. Are you trying to figure out the perfect destination for a fiftieth anniversary? The Maldives is not only romantic, but also the closest thing you will ever find to the Fountain of Youth.
