Tips for Taking a Cruise to South America

When you’re planning for a cruise to South America, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of seeing this colorful, vibrant continent. With so much to see and do, there’s something to suit everyone. So, how can you make sure you get the most out of your trip? Preparation is key, and here are three tips for taking a cruise to South America:

1. Prioritize – The number of things to do on a cruise to South America can be overwhelming, so before you even step foot on the ship, create a list of all your options. Then, figure out which ones you want to do most and write them down in order of importance. Whether you’re going as a family, couple, or group of friends, it’s likely that everyone will have different preferences for excursions. For example, some people might want to go see ancient ruins, while others prefer a winery tour. By deciding ahead of time which activities you’ll do as a group and which you’ll do separately, you’ll avoid last-minute bickering or confusion and can focus on having fun instead.

2. Pack realistically – Think about what you included on your list of activities, and what you will actually be doing each day. Consider what clothes you will need for these activities and if you can re-wear any. Take neutral basics and use accessories to make the outfit. A simple white sundress can go from pool cover-up to nice dinner outfit depending on how it’s worn. Also, remember that you may buy mementos on your trip, and you’ll need space in your bags to bring them home.

3. Talk to someone who’s been there – Have a friend from South America? Ask their opinion on the best things to do, foods to eat, and places to go. They’ll be able to give you insight that no guide book could provide. You may also want to ask around to see if anyone you know has been on a trip to this continent. Ask them about their experience, what they did, and if they can give you any advice. Getting an idea of the trip from a visitor’s point of view can be just as valuable as a local’s perspective.

These three tips may help you have a smoother, happier cruise to South America, but there’s one more piece of advice that trumps them all: Just have fun! Your vacation should be a relaxing experience, no matter what you end up doing or where you end up going.
