My first Tweetup – The Florida Aquarium, Tampa

I just experienced my first local tweetup this weekend at The Florida Aquarium in Tampa. This was a Tampa Tweetup put together by @SIGEPJEDI & @JuliaGorzka. I was very happy that this was a kid friendly event, and about 250 twitterers were in attendance.

I really did not network with anyone, but I did get to meet @MommyMelee (finally-who looks completely different, and totally beautiful in person) and @Morningsidemom (who is super sweet and has 2 cute little boys).

My daughter LOVED the aquarium and is now an expert on sea life between this visit and our SeaWorld trip.

At the start of the tweetup there was a little presentation, and a big screen of our live tweets.

followed by an alligator

and snake petting session.

After this time we were free to roam the aquarium.

A cool looking boxfish-

Some crazy pink bird I did not get the name of-

A Moray eel…

The Penguin Promenade-

these guys were really cute…

and finally, the Carnival Inspiration was leaving the Port of Tampa. This ship is special to me because I got married on it!

Overall it was a really nice day and a great chance to experience the Florida Aquarium. I look forward to next month for another tweetup!

Glad you had fun! The pink bird is a Rosette Spoonbill. Not sure of my spelling.

I’m new to Twitter….can’t believe they even have tweet-ups! Sounds like a trip that met the needs of everyone. The closest we came to an aquarium last week was the giant fish tank in the doctor’s office. Although, for an 18 mo. old, it’s not too shabby!
