So,Yay! — I’m a Skype Ambassador

I’m super excited to announce that I’ve been chosen as a Skype Ambassador through a campaign from Mom Central!

I discovered my love for Skype when I was visiting Mexico a few years ago. I forgot to switch my phone over to the Mexico plan, and I didn’t want to risk turning on the phone while out of the country because I know howร‚ย quicklyร‚ย those roaming data charges can add up. I needed to call ร‚ย my husband, and on a whim I bought $10 worth of Skype credit and gave it a try. Needless to say, I was instantly hooked. I used my computer to call my husband’s cell and then gradually we started to use the video chatร‚ย featureร‚ย using my laptop (with a built in camera) and an iPod touch. If I called from my computer to the iPod with video, each international call was free! That first $10 I bought in Skype credit lasted me for months … even on a cruise, when it seemed like I was in the middle of nowhere –ร‚ย Skypeร‚ย worked!

I will be using Skype almost exclusively next month when my daughter and I travel to Europe for aร‚ย Mediterraneanร‚ย cruise. Calling home will take a little more planning since I need access to WI-FI, but the money I will save on each call makes it all worth it.

For me, Skype hasร‚ย completelyร‚ย taken the stress out of making international calls. It has changed how I travel and it has brought myร‚ย familyร‚ย closer together when I’m away because I can now see their faces, instead of just talking to them on the phone.

I seriouslyร‚ย loveร‚ย Skype.

Skype รขโ‚ฌล“Mom You Rockรขโ‚ฌย Charity Campaign

Skype isn’t just a cheap way to call home when you’re traveling abroad– ร‚ย it’s an easy and affordable way to connect with loved ones who are both near and far. Never has it been so easy to video chat with friends and family, which is why it’s a great idea to send personal Skype messages instead of sending a greeting card forร‚ย occasionsร‚ย like Mother’s Day. Skype has a new campaign called “Mom You Rock‘, whereร‚ย Skype will donate $1 to Save the Children for each video card sent — full details can be found on the Skype Facebook Page.

Do you use Skype? Have you ever used it to send video messages instead of greeting cards?

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Skype. I received Skype credits to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for participating.
