Sergeant’s Calming Collar for Cats #CalmingCollar

This post is sponsored by Sergeant’s as part of a campaign with Mom It Forward. All opinions are my own.

As much as I adore our cats, they can drive me completely crazy. The biggest offender is Rocky, our “baby”.

Rocky has a bit of a split personality. One minute he will snuggle up to me, purring and kneading at my neck, and the next minute he’s scratching the rug or furniture. It’s seriously frustrating because there doesn’t seem to be anything I can do to stop him. We’ve tried cat treats, spraying him with water and yelling รขโ‚ฌโ€ nothing works.

Sergeant’s recently sent me a couple of theirร‚ย Vetscription Calming Collars for Cats to try out on Coco and Rocky. The collars use pheromone technology to help improve stress-related behaviors such as excessive meowing, scratching and marking.

Each collar lasts up to 30 days and is a pleasant lavender chamomile fragrance. When you take the collar out of the package, you’ll notice a white powder coating. According to the box this is harmless to the cat, and in the case of our collars, the powder fell off rather quickly. My cats don’t normally wear collars, so they were at first put off by something around their necks. Rocky tried to bite his off until I tightening it and clipped some of the excess off … then he seemed to forget about it. That’s why you can’t see his purple Calming Collar in the photo above รขโ‚ฌโ€ but he is wearing it!

Coco, our oldest, is generally calm, so she didn’t seem fazed by it.ร‚ย I don’t think the Calming Collarร‚ย did anything for her because she’s a happy cat that lays around all day. I took the collar off her after a few days to save forร‚ย Rocky,ร‚ย who clearly needs it more.

At first, I didn’t notice any changes in Rocky. He seemed to be his usual rambunctious self รขโ‚ฌโ€ but then, one day I walked in on him bathing Coco. In the two years that I have had both cats, I have never seen Rocky bathe Coco! It was so adorable that I had to snap a picture…

Sergeant's calming collar

I can only assume this had something to do with the Sergeant’s Calming Collar. I’m leaving the collar on him and will asses his behavior over the coming weeks. I like how each collar lasts 30 days without any side effects. I’m hoping that with time, the Calming Collar will help lessen Rocky’s furniture scratching to where eventually he won’t need it.

Do you have a cat that could use Sergeant’s Calming Collar?
