For over a month now I have been getting my back lanai ready for an epic “Outdoor Oasis” party with accessories from Pier 1 Imports Outdoor Collection. Sadly, my party wasn’t much of an oasis because it got completely rained out— it literally rained for a week straight! I had to cancel because we had plans to grill hot dogs and burgers, and all of my family was coming from out of the area. A complete bummer. The good news is that I still have all of the fab outdoor accessories from Pier 1 Imports to enjoy on my own, or with family for a barbecue at a later date.
I put a lot of thought and time into transforming our outdoor space, which started out as a miserable mess. Our patio furniture was chipping paint and the seat cushions were horribly faded. We actually avoided going outside because we were embarrassed of how we’d let it go. Here’s a look at what I was working with —Â
Thankfully, a couple cans of spray paint and $150 gift card to Pier 1 Imports, courtesy of Millenial Central, did the trick and now we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE spending time on the lanai.
The inspiration for my colorful patio came from this yellow peacock pillow from Pier 1.
Just like the commercials, it spoke to me.
After I found my inspiration, I shopped from Pier 1’s Summer Brights collection. Adding four new Cabana Cushions in Citrus and a large Teal Crackle Lantern to my patio table. (The cushions I originally bought were too small, so I went back and returned them for the ones shown).
To kick up the bold palette a little further, I spray painted an old outdoor table in a teal blue. I tried to pick up colors from the peacock’s feathers for my color scheme. I also added fresh flowers to make the space look inviting.
I’m not completely finished with my patio yet, I still need to go back and get two more pillows— I’m thinking about orange or blue— and some tableware. I’d also like to string some lanterns, if I can figure out how to do it.
