Camp Sunshine and Tropical Smoothie Cafe are partnering to give kids with life threatening illnesses a place of recreation, support, hope, and joy in a time when these can be in short supply. Camp Sunshine and Tropical Smoothie Cafe want to help lift at least a little of the burden that severe illness can place upon families.
Camp Sunshine – A Place of Hope
Camp Sunshine in Casco, Maine is a place of hope and joy for children with life threatening illnesses and their families. Families of children diagnosed with cancer, kidney disease, lupus, brain tumors, sickle cell disease, Diamond-Blackfan anemia, Shwachman-Diamond syndrome, dyskeratosis congenita, and those who’ve had solid organ transplants are eligible for nomination.
If you are a family in need of a respite from the rigors of chronic or severe illness, you can fill out the Camp Sunshine Official Application and register for a possible spot at the camp. It’s super easy to do. The page has a link to the rules for nomination, as well as a simple an app with dates broken down by sessions for different illnesses. If you know a family in need in need of a break from the strain of a life-threatening childhood illness, you can nominate them for one of the programs at Camp Sunshine– just make sure you let them know because they will receive an email asking them to fill out an official Camp Sunshine application in order to be considered.
Nominations will be accepted from 8 AM ET on May 1st, 2016 through 11:59 ET on June 30th, 2016.
National Flip Flop Day – THE Casual Friday with a Purpose
What is National Filp Flop Day, you ask? Well, it’s the brain child of Tropical Smoothie Cafe. They have designated the third Friday of June as National Flip Flop Day! On this day, Tropical Smoothie Cafe celebrates their customers and raise funds for their charity partner, Camp Sunshine. Every customer who comes in wearing flip flops from 2 PM to 7PM on June 17 will receive a free Jetty Punch Smoothie! In addition, Tropical Smoothie Cafe will be working towards their goal of raising one million dollars.
2016 also marks the 10th anniversary of Tropical Smoothie Cafe’s partnership with Camp Sunshine!
