5 Ways to Fight Cold and Flu Season #GermFree24

This post has been sponsored by Zoono USA. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I hate catching a cold, and catching the flu is even worse! As my husband and I are always traveling, and our teenage daughter is busy with school, drama club and spending time socializing with her friends, it’s just a matter of time before one of us catches the bug that seems to always be going around…As we both work from home as bloggers, of course a “sick day” doesn’t mean to us what it means to those who work in office settings, but it’s a nuisance just the same – not to mention, it is awful being sick! With that in mind, here areร‚ย 5 Ways to Fight Cold and Flu Season, my tried and true methods for keeping illness at bay, or to make those sick days less awful when illness does strike!

5 Ways to Fight Cold and Flu Season

  1. Stock up on necessary supplies.ร‚ย While we may never EXPECT to get a cold or catch the flu, given this time of year, it’s a given that at least one person will become sick, and it’s always best to be prepared! Make sure that you have a stock of tissues, hand sanitizer, chicken soup, a thermometer, humidifier, etc. Rather safe than sorry, I always say!
  2. Stock up on supplements and medicines.ร‚ย I have found that taking Vitamin C helps keep my immune system stronger during cold and flu season, and I highly recommend it!ร‚ย You’ll also want to ensure that you have a healthy supply ofร‚ย  painร‚ย relievers, fever reducers, decongestants, cough drops, etc. Make sure that you have enough for the entire family, and be sure to replace medicines as they begin to run low. No one wants to make a run to the drug store when you’re fighting a fever or coughing your brains out! I also recommend keeping a jar of honey in your kitchen, as honey is great for soothing a sore throat.
  3. Wash your hands!ร‚ย Everyone knows that you’re supposed to wash your hands throughout the day, but it’s especially important during cold and flu season!
  4. Disinfect.ร‚ย Keep the disinfectant on hand and use it OFTEN, especially when someone in your home has fallen ill.
  5. Use hand sanitizer.ร‚ย I always laugh when I see bottles of hand sanitizer all over cruise ships, because we all know why…they’re trying to prevent passengers from spreading illnesses!ร‚ย Do the same for your home, and make sure to keep hand sanitizer in your purse, car, etc to help keep your hands germ free!

A new hand sanitizer I’ve recently begun using isร‚ย Zoono GermFree24ร‚ยฎ Hand Sanitizer, an FDA-compliant, water-based hand sanitizer that kills 99.99% of germs on contact and keeps killing them for up to 24 hours! As there are so many germs in the planes and hotels during my travels, I make sure to keep it in my purse at all times!

5 Ways to Fight Cold and Flu Season #GermFree24

Let’s think about this;ร‚ย GermFree24ร‚ยฎร‚ย provides protection against germs for up to 24 hours. Think about how many things you touch over an entire 24 hour period. If you’re a parent, think about how many things your children touch over 24 hours…especially the little ones!ร‚ย We’re talking doorknob: 8,643 bacteria, a computer mouse: 79,000 bacteria, your handy remote control: 17,000 bacteria…

Yeah, it’s gross. Because our standardร‚ย alcohol-based hand sanitizers only work while they are wet (and of course, they quickly evaporate), just one application ofร‚ย  GermFree24ร‚ยฎ killsร‚ย can help you kill germs all day long! Of course you should continue washing your hands after the bathroom and such (as GermFree24 doesn’t wash off!), but this gives you a little peace of mind as you make your way through the day.

GermFree24ร‚ยฎ doesnรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt use chemistry to kill germs, unlike some hand sanitizers, it uses physics. Bonding to your skin, it sets up a nano-molecular layer of รขโ‚ฌล“pinsรขโ‚ฌย that physically impale and destroy germs on contact. Yes, I said “IMPALE.” Cool, right? It provides long lasting protection against a variety ofร‚ย microorganisms, including bacteria, virusesร‚ย likeร‚ย influenza, fungi and mold.
