Seven years ago I wrote a post on this very blog about my struggle with infertility. At the time, my husband and I had been trying for two years to have a baby. I was at a low point, because it seemed like the world was against me — I would read blog after blog of women announcing their pregnancies, and people would say "stop trying so hard" or "just relax". Which never helped the situation.
I didn't chronicle my journey as much as I should have because I was embarrassed. Eventually I let the whole thing go, and years passed by. Seven years now. Other than my daughter, who is now eleven, I have never gotten pregnant again.
I still think about having another baby often, though I admit that as time passes that want is fading away. My husband and I have grown accustomed to our lifestyle and a baby would really make things interesting — but we're both still open to the idea of me becoming pregnant again.
Which leads us to the next three months. We've decided that we're going to give it a go for the next three months and see what happens. My body has changed a lot over the years and there is a chance that the timing just wasn't right before. We're not doing any treatments, but we will be using Astroglide TTC Trying to Conceiveâ„¢.
What is Astroglide TTC
Astroglide TTC™ is a specially formulated for couples who are trying to conceive, Astroglide TTC supports fertility with adjusted pH levels, compatible osmolality and a consistency similar to your body's cervical mucus. Each package contains 8 pre-filled disposable applicators that make it easy to coat the inside of the vagina, supplementing natural fluids and enhancing comfort.
How It Works
When trying to conceive, it is vital to provide an environment where sperm has a chance of survival. While traditional lubricants may affect these conditions and inhibit sperm motility, studies have shown that Astroglide TTC is compatible with sperm, oocytes and embryos and allows sperm to move freely.
I have to admit, now that I'm writing this out the possibility of getting pregnant again is exciting. I would love to have a new baby and give my daughter a sibling — a gift she won't truly appreciate until she is older!
I will keep you updated over the next few months, and who knows what could happen ... I may have a new bundle of joy on the way!
