Whole Foods Market is hands down my favorite food store. I think there is a misconception that everything in Whole Foods is expensive. I know I couldn't shop there if that was the case. Like any other store, you have to know what to buy. I find I actually save money by buying bulk organic beans and grains at Whole Foods vs. boxed and processed sides at the grocery store. For items not in bulk, I shop Whole Foods 365 Everyday Value brand.
The Whole Foods 365 Everyday Value brand has natural and organic selections for most of my shopping list-- including my daughter's school lunches.
I might not save money over buying lunch directly from the school, but I know I am giving her quality, whole foods, for basically the same price as processed junk.
Here are some of the 365 Everyday Value products we found on a recent Whole Foods trip, perfect for back to school lunches.
- 365 Everyday Value Almond Butter (or Peanut Butter) on 365 Everyday Value Sprouted Wheat Berry Bread
- 365 Everyday Value Organic String Cheese
- 365 Everyday Value Organic Apple Sauce (available unsweetened and with cinnamon)
- 365 Everyday Value Organic 100% Apple Juice (Fruit Punch, Orange, White Grape, etc.)
- 365 Everyday Value Organic Baby Carrots
- 365 Everyday Value Raisins
This year, my daughter requested lunches with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, an apple, string cheese, yogurt and a juice box.
What's in your kids lunch?
I received a Whole Foods Market gift card to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.
