When most people think of Florida Travel, they think of all the theme parks and attractions. And while they have their place for family entertainment, there’s much more to the central Florida area, including nearby Ocala/Marion County.
Known as the Horse Capital of the WorldTM, Ocala/Marion County offers visitors an authentic taste of classic Florida charm. From trail rides on horseback, to great dining, shopping and golf – there’s a little something for every member of the family.
Some of my family’s favorite activities are swimming and kayaking in one of the many crystal clear springs, including Alexander Springs, Juniper Springs and Rainbow Springs – there’s no better way to cool off on a hot Florida day!
To create lasting family memories, I recommend taking advantage of one of the many family friendly campsites, rustic cabins or B&B’s in the area. The accommodations really set apart the destination by giving family’s a quiet and laid back vacation experience. There’s a ton of adventure to be had in this outdoor paradise!
Create Family Memories this Spring in Ocala/Marion County
Spring is a great time to visit central Florida because we’re in between seasons. It’s never particularly cold in Florida, but when summer rolls around the temperatures really start to rise. March, April and early May are just before the traditional tourist season hits, so not only will you get great weather, but you can take advantage of the great values on Ocala/Marion County Lodging and Ocala/Marion County Activities.
Birding is also super popular during this time of year, and while I haven't been bird watching myself, it could be a fun family activity. Get everyone their own set of inexpensive binoculars and a bird book, and you could put together a fun 'bird scavenger hunt'.
Other amazing outdoor activities include ziplining, biking, boating and hiking.
If you're looking for a new adventure in central Florida, considering taking a quick trip to Ocala/Marion County. Once you experience the relaxed, natural feel for the area, it will be hard to go back to the hustle and bustle of the big city.
