You know that saying things happen for a reason?
Recently I had an experience on twitter that came together so perfectly, that it seemed it was just meant to be.
I am a big Depeche Mode fan. I have been a fan for about 9 years, since I was in college, dating this guy. He would play The Singles 86>98 and I was hooked from the moment I heard, In Your Room. I went to Alaska that year and brought along The Singles, and Violator and I finally understood what people meant when they said music can inspire and move you. Needless to say, I have been a Depeche Mode fan ever since.
I have always wanted to go to a Depeche Mode concert. For my anniversary this year my husband suggested he would get me tickets so we could go. For whatever reason that didn't happen (the tickets).
I was on twitter last week when I saw a tweet from @rachelbender who mentioned she was going to the Depeche Mode concert in Tampa. I replied to her that I was a huge Depeche Mode fan and then she asked me if I was near Tampa and if I wanted to go. I couldn't believe it!
I have never blindly met up with someone on twitter before to do anything, especially attend a concert with someone where you have to sit right next to them for 2+ hours, which could totally be an awkward situation with the wrong person. We both did a little investigating on each other to make sure we weren't dealing with a crazy person...
Turns out I should of already met Rachael at The Disney Mom Blogger Mixer I attend in June. She was invited, but out of town that weekend. She is also good friends with Maria Bailey, which really put my mind at ease.
I met up with Rachael and her friend LuAnn at the Hard Rock Hotel in Tampa. I was completely nervous, but had no reason to be. These were 2 of the coolest chicks I have met in a long time. I had an AWESOME time, both at the concert and hanging out before/after. Everything came together perfectly.
Depeche Mode rocked! They played most of my favorite songs, and really was everything I hoped they would be.
More importantly though, I feel as if I have met a new friend who I hope to get to know a lot better.
Thank you Rachael!
I think this whole experience was just meant to be.
For fun, some of my favorite Depeche Mode songs:
Personal Jesus
John the Revelator
Policy of Truth
Waiting for the Night
Precious
Walking in my Shoes
In your Room
Wrong
Leigh
I am so glad you got to go the concert! And so jealous! I was so psyched about them coming until I saw the date - it was my daughter's birthday.
Glad you had a great time!
