Having a digital lifestyle, I spend a lot of my time online. And when I say a lot, I mean A LOT! It's not often that I truly disconnect— especially with my friends and loved ones. It seems that even when I'm not working, I'm still online or on social media in some capacity. It doesn't help that my husband is also a blogger... so there are two of us in one home that are always on some kind of device, whether it's a laptop, tablet or smartphone.
This post is brought to you by Pinot's Palette. All opinions are my own.
This hasn't been too much of a problem because most of my friends are social media addicts, like myself. However, this isn't the case with other family members, including my mom and sister— being around me when I'm on Instagram or Snapchat is a nuisance to them. They don't get the digital lifestyle at all, which is entirely understandable.
I had heard the term "Disconnect to Reconnect" from Pinot's Palette and thought it would be a great idea to book a girl's night out with my mom and sister to focus more on being in the present while creating a piece of art. None of us had participated in a painting and wine party before, so it was an experience that we could all share together.
Here's how it all went down:
First, I found a Pinot's Palette Paint and Sip studio near me and registered online. Honestly, finding a date that we all could agree on was the hardest part! There's a handy calendar that shows you class times (by location) with the artwork that you'll create. Our session was before Valentine's Day, so we went with "A Kiss in the Park".
When we arrived, Pinot's Palette already had our table and canvases set up — all we needed to do was hit the bar for some refreshments 🙂
Our painting class started promptly on time and was easier to follow that I expected. My mom and sister are both great at art, so I knew they wouldn't have a problem— me, not so much.
The instructor truly went step by step, making it easy to paint a beautiful canvas with no experience at all. I blew myself away with my finished product!
Our paintings took about 2 hours, and they all came out great! We had so much fun, and other than snapping these photos, I didn't pick up my phone once! I can't remember the last time we did something like this together— meaning this time to reconnect was long overdue!
I enjoyed my time at Pinot's Palette so much that I'm planning another session with my husband. There are paintings that two people can work on together, making it a unique and fun date night.
