How often do you make time for yourself to do something that benefits your health? I know that I put the needs of my husband and daughter before my own, which makes me feel good as a wife and mother, but the reality is that I could be doing more for my own health. It’s kind of like the safety demonstration on an airplane— they always tell you to put your own oxygen mask on first before helping others.
Making small changes to your daily routine is the simplest way to improve your overall health.
As women, we have a lot on our plates. Many of us have families to take care of in addition to our own careers and well being. It's easy to put our needs aside for the sake of the ones we loves. But it's time to make a change. And National Women’s Health Week (May 8-14, 2016) is the perfect time to get started.
Here are 5 easy ways to put your health first during NWHW.
Enjoy a nutritious snack on the go - It's really easy to ignore healthy eating when you're busy. But with a little planning you can have a delicious and nutritious snack anywhere. Fruit, nuts, hard-boiled eggs, and fresh veggies are easy to pack and full of protein and fiber ... and they make you feel great!
Get in on a yoga session - Whenever I need to change my outlook on life I find a yoga class and immerse myself in meditation. Within an hour my mindset completely changes for the better. It's like instant therapy! Having an hour or two of mindful time is a great step towards overall health.
Take in the outdoors - Whether you walk, jog, or do cartwheels, it's important to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. Activity is super important for overall health, but you don't have to rush into it. Making the time is the hardest part— just get out there!
Meet up with a friend - Never underestimate the value of friendship! Keep your good friends close by meeting up for coffee or a drink. Having someone to share your accomplishments and concerns with can help you stay motivated on your path to better health.
Upgrade your oral health routine - Stay on top of your oral health with the Colgate Total® Daily Repair regimen, including new Colgate Total® Daily Repair Mouthwash, which helps kill bad breath germs while also helping to repair daily damage to teeth*, and Colgate Total® Daily Repair Toothpaste, which helps repair early teeth & gum damage, freshen breath, and whiten teeth.
These small changes are in addition to the bigger picture, which would include seeing a doctor and dentist on a regular basis for check-ups.
Colgate Total® invites women across the country to pledge to Refresh, Restore and Repair their health, starting with something as simple as switching to the Colgate Total® Daily Repair regimen.
