When we think of hunger, we usually think of those in third world countries. Sadly, the epidemic is a lot closer to home –  the reality is that one in six Americans are living at risk of hunger.
As shocking as this statistic is, it may be even more surprising to hear that Feeding America estimates that only 10% of their clients are homeless; the rest are households, many with children, struggling to make ends meet. The good news is that there are ways to help–
Land O’Lakes has partnered with Feeding America® to kick off the Pin a Meal, Give a Meal campaign on Pinterest. For every pin or re-pin of a Land O’Lakes recipe, Land O’Lakes will donate 8 meals to Feeding America.
To participate, start browsing the Land O’Lakes Pinterest page or the Pin a Meal, Give a Meal Pinterest board for easy meal ideas for your family. When you find something that catches your eye, pin or re-pin the recipe to your account. That’s it! From March 4th to May 1st, the Land O’Lakes Foundation will donate $1 to Feeding America (up to $250,000 dollars or 2 million meals) for every Land O’Lakes recipe that is pinned or re-pinned.
As for the recipes, Land O’Lakes selected an assortment of meal ideas with families in mind — I’ve already pinned a yummy Bacon Mac and Cheese, some Sweet & Spicy Shrimp Tacos and a scrumptious-looking Strawberry Ombre Cake. There’s no limit on how many recipes you can pin and re-pin, so while you’re finding new meals for your family, you’re also helping to fight hunger. It’s a win-win!
