My husband and I are three months into our journey of trying for another baby and I'm still waiting for that big fat positive. I knew going in that getting pregnant wasn't going to be easy, so I'm not entirely surprised with another negative result.
I know from past experienced that the key is to not get discouraged— though I know firsthand how hard it can be to stay positive from month to month. Here are a few ways I'm staying positive as I continue my journey trying to conceive.
How to Stay Positive When TTC
1. Relax - This is the one thing that practically everyone will tell you to do when trying to conceive. And it's true; though easier said than done. This time around I'm concentrating on "me" more and have signed up for a monthly massage program. Whether I get pregnant or not, I'm really enjoying my hourly massage appointments as it's a chance to really decompress. I'm much more relaxed at home and my anxiety has decreased tremendously.
2. Stay Healthy - Once again, I am focusing on "me" and have stayed on track with a low carb diet (good for women with PCOS) and I'm walking at least 2 miles every day. I'm feeling better overall, which has kept me positive of the journey ahead.
3. Change things up - It is easy to get stuck in a routine when trying to conceive because often you're so focused on timing— while timing is important, it's more important to enjoy the moments you have with your partner and to not put too much pressure on yourself or significant other. I'm beginning to plan date nights with my husband around my days of ovulation. This way we can have a good time and let things progress naturally. And once again, if we don't get pregnant, we at least had a fun time trying.
I'm still using Astroglide Trying To Conceive as it's a great product that's easy to use— I figure that it can only increase my chances of getting pregnant!
4. Talk to your doctor - If you begin to feel discouraged about the process of getting pregnant, talk to your doctor. There are new advancements in fertility treatments that are less invasive (and less expensive!). Getting a game plan from a medical professional was one of the best things I did when TTC the first time around.
