So my new camera came!! Dell took an exceptionally long time to ship this thing, but I am glad it is finally here. I ended up getting a FujiFilm S1500 to replace my Nikon Coolpix. I really wanted a Nikon D40 but just couldn't spend the money on it right now. I figured this new FujiFilm is an in-between model of my old Nikon and a DSLR.
Even though this is a regular point and shoot, I have no idea how to work it. Case in point, today we ended up at Lido Beach (story to follow) and I decided to take a few pictures with my new camera.
Apparently I had it on manual and was happily taking picture after picture only to realize when I got back in to the car that all the pictures were white. Ugh. All the cute shots of my daughter picking up shells were a no go. I did get this one picture because I switched over to automatic at some point-
The good thing is now I have a camera again.
Our trip to the beach today was not planned. In fact, we should have been somewhere else.
I had heard something online this week about Free Museum Day for participating museums throughout the country. I went to the website and found out that a local science center was participating. Cool. I went ahead and printed off my coupon and got dd super excited about going.
We headed on downtown to the science center, my daughter with coupon in hand, only to find out it wasn't until next month! I read the website wrong. I felt so stupid and I didn't have any cash to pay for the museum entrance fee (and my husband had my debit card). 🙁
My daughter had a TOTAL meltdown right there at the front desk. She told me what a horrible mother I was for ruining her life and not having money. It was sad. It was really sad when all of the other kids her age were walking in with their parents and she had to leave crying.
I promised her we would come back another day, and we went to the beach instead. This appealed to her for about 10 minutes until she realized she didn't have a bathing suit to go swimming...
So about this free museum day, it is SEPTEMBER 26th, 2009 and you can go here to find a participating museum in your area. You must print a coupon, which is good for 2 people. It says one per household, but I bet you could do one for each adult to get the kids in, or at least pay for the kids and get the adults in for free.

I would just go back next month but we will be on vacation that week. Hopefully this will be of use to your family.
