We’re only into the third week of our school year, and my daughter has already missed three days of school – to be honest, I’m not surprised. She has been sick every year, for the past three years, with some sort of illness (usually strep throat) within the first month of school. I’ve lectured her ad nauseam on the importance of hand washing and using hand sanitizer, but since I’m not there to monitor her, I’m not sure how often she is really doing it. She’s only eight and germs are probably the last thing on her mind.
Studies have shown that germs can live on surfaces, like desktops and doorknobs, for up to two days or more. Teachers can help keep classrooms clean and ward off germs by disinfecting commonly touched surfaces with Lysol Disinfecting Wipes. Lysol is the #1 Pediatrician recommended brand, and for over 100 years, has been the trusted champion of killing illness causing germs. Lysol is committed to helping students stay healthy—which is why they’ve developed reference guides in the form of Healthy Habits Lesson Plans for teachers and moms.
While it’s not the job of the teacher alone to help keep kids healthy (it should be a team effort with parents, teachers & students), keeping the classroom sanitized is a big part of the equation. Lysol knows how important this role is, so as an added an incentive, from now until September 14, 2012, teachers can enter for a chance to win $500 towards school supplies for their classroom! Teachers can learn more and enter online by visiting www.lysol.com/schools.
Parents will also find useful tips for keeping kids healthy during the school years on Lysol’s Back to School Season page.
Now that my daughter is well again, I’m sending her back to school with a few canisters of Lysol! Were Lysol Disinfecting Wipes on your child’s back to school list?Â
I wrote this post while participating in a blog tour conducted by Burst Media on behalf of Lysol. I have been compensated for my time commitment to the program, but my opinions are my own.Â
