Kit Kat Hot Cocoa Bombs
Which chocolate is best to use for hot cocoa bombs?
While you can use regular bar chocolate or baking chocolate to make your hot cocoa bombs, it's not my favorite. Candy melts are the better choice, in my opinion, because they're super convenient, consistent when you're melting them, and coming pre-colored and pre-flavored options.
If you do decide to make your Kit Kat hot cocoa bombs with bar chocolate, you'll want to chop it up finely to get it to melt smoothly throughout without scorching. So just keep that in mind.
Filling your cocoa bombs
Aside from hot cocoa mix, you can add all sorts of other things inside your chocolate bombs! Choose the fillings you want to go inside (be it mini marshmallows, candy pieces, or whatever), then fill just the one side. It's ok if it seems a little overly-full because the top half of the sphere will cover it.
To attach the two halves of chocolate together, you’ll use a paint brush or other small tool (or even your finger) and spread melted chocolate as an “adhesive”. As they set, the chocolate will harden and the pieces will be attached.
Cracking open the cocoa bombs
Pour heated milk over your hot chocolate bomb to get it to pop open. Some folks say to just drop a hot cocoa bomb into your cup of milk, but if the milk is not hot enough, it could just melt the bottom of the cocoa bomb and dissolve it, robbing you of seeing it crack open. Pouring hot milk over the top seems to give you the prettiest result.
