Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball
You know when you go to a party where everyone has brought something (or a church potluck, or a family reunion), and there is that one stand-out dish? The one item on the buffet that has everyone saying, “Who made this?”
Haven’t you always wanted to be that person? The cook everyone is seeking out to say, “Wow, that thing you made is great!” and, “Can I have the recipe?”
Well, friends, today is your day, and this is your recipe. This is the one that’s going to turn you into the MVC (Most Valuable Cook) at the next party!
Cheese balls tend to be the first thing I gravitate toward at a party buffet. While most cheese balls have traditionally been savory, the trend in recent years has been on the sweeter side. A dessert cheese ball, if you will. All I can say is I am here for it.
That’s why I’m so excited to share this new take on the chocolate chip cheese ball with you! It starts by beating together a sweet, creamy base of cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar, but takes it to the next level with the addition of black raspberry fruit spread and chocolate chips.
Using a natural fruit spread in this recipe is a great cooking shortcut. You could use fresh or frozen raspberries, but then that would involve the extra steps of cooking the raspberries down on the stovetop with a sweetener and acid, then running that through a sieve to remove the seeds, then cooling the mixture down. Yep. Opening that jar of Simply Fruit seems way easier, doesn’t it? And I feel good about using it in this dessert cheese ball recipe because it has no artificial preservatives or high fructose corn syrup.
I hope you’ll try this Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball at your next party! It’s guaranteed to make you the Most Valuable Cook.
