This post is brought to you by ThermalStrike and Global Influence. All opinions are my own.
When I first started traveling, I used a set of inexpensive luggage that got my things from Point A to Point B. I quickly realized that, if I wanted to continue to travel on a regular basis, I needed to invest in quality pieces that would hold up over time. Like most things in life, you get what you pay for ... and luggage is no exception.
If you're a business traveler, like myself, or even just travel regularly for fun, you know the most important piece of luggage is the carry-on. For me, the carry-on is important because it allows me to get in and out of the airport quickly, without the hassle of waiting in line to check my bag. Plus, I always know where my luggage is at all times, versus having it get "lost" in the system.
With all this being said, I have gone through a ton of carry-on's over the years, and there have only been a few that have ticked off all the boxes on my list of "must-haves". Thermalstrike, an innovative brand of heated luggage, recently sent me their 20" Carry On to review. I was really intrigued by this brand because it has a feature that I've never seen before-- Thermalstrike uses infrared heat technology to kill bed bugs.
While I haven't had a run in with bed bugs, that doesn't mean it's out of the realm of possibility in my future travels. Bed bugs, like lice, are pesky little things that can stow away in your clothes and other belongings long after you left your destination. ThermalStrike works by plugging the luggage into any standard 110v outlet. In addition, it also works well with travel converters for European 220v outlets. ThermalStrike's heating technology brings the temperature inside of the suitcase up to 140˚f, which is the magic number for killing these parasites.
In just 2 and a half hours, you can be sure that your luggage is bed bug free!
Beyond the bed bug killing feature, ThermalStrike is a solid piece of luggage--
What I love about ThermalStrike Luggage
- Hard-sided Design - This is the first piece of hard-sided luggage that I have owned, and I really enjoy the extra security. Even though I won't ever check this bag, I'm confident that all of the contents will remain secure inside.
- TSA Approved Lock - I had been meaning to purchase a TSA approved lock for my other carry on, and was excited to see that ThermalStrike luggage has one already attached. If you want to lock your luggage you MUST have a lock that TSA can open with their universal key at security.
- 360-degree Pivoting Wheels - This feature is truly a must-have for me, and I would not buy a piece of luggage without it. Every frequent traveler knows that if you want to get in and out of the airport quickly, you NEED pivoting wheels.
- Ultra Light - Before I received my carry on from ThermalStrike, I was concerned that the heating element would add bulk and weight to the suitcase. But, believe it or not, this is the lightest piece of luggage I have ever owned. The heating element inside (which is cleverly hidden under lining) is only 1mm think, and weighs less an ½ pound.
- Luxury Look & Feel - The look of the carry on screams quality and luxury. I love the slate grey color, and the retractable handles go in and out fluidly-- a sure sign of a well made piece of luggage.
- Organized Compartments - When you open the suitcase, each side is separated by a zippered compartment-- this keeps everything in place, where you want it. There's even a little pouch for the cord that connects to the suitcase and the power outlet for easy storage when not in use.
I recently traveled to Bermuda with this 20-inch carry on from ThermalStrike and I was super happy with all of the features. I had no problems going through security (the thought had crossed my mind because of the heating element), and I made it quickly to my terminal thanks to the pivoting wheels. This is the first carry on that has all of the bells and whistles that I required ... and then some!
ThermalStrike luggage can be purchased in either a 20" carry on (2400 cubic inches of packing space) or a 24" upright (3900 cubic inches of packing space) at ThermalStrike.com. Also, be sure to keep up-to-date with ThermalStrike on their Facebook page.
