Since the beginning of summer I have been on a mission to get back in shape. My routine took a bit of a slump in the spring, but now that it's swimsuit season I'm back on track. When it comes to living healthy there is no magic potion — it literally takes work and determination. I've found that I reach my fitness goals much faster when I follow these three basic principles:
Watch what I eat - I'm convinced that 50% of weight loss comes when you eat better. I'm not against carbs —at least the good ones— but I try to be mindful of how many I consume. Limiting sugar also goes a long way when you're trying to lose weight and get in shape. If I'm really struggling with my food I will keep a food diary.
Drink more water - I always feel better when I drink more water. I don't have a goal amount that I drink every day, but I always like to have a glass nearby when I'm working to keep hydrated. A slice of lemon or lime makes water even more refreshing.
Make time for exercise - This is a big one. The other half of health and fitness is exercise. You just have to make time for it and let it become a routine.
