Now that we're more than a month into the New Year, how are your resolutions coming along? My goals for 2015 are to get on track with health and fitness. Clique? Yes. But it's one area of my life that needs to be improved and I'm sticking to it.
I've actually done more with health than fitness this year by eating smaller portions and taking a daily dose of vitamins. Mentally I feel really good! I really think my new vitamin routine has a lot to do with my newfound energy. At the start of the year I bought several bottles of vitamins and supplements, including a Multivitamin, B-12 & B-6, Omega-3 and Probiotics.
I thought I had all the bases covered, until I read the back of the multivitamin bottle which suggested adding another source of calcium of at least 500 mg/day. I guess they can only pack so many vitamins & minerals in a single pill, and calcium is commonly left out. As it is, the majority of Americans do not receive the amount of calcium needed daily based on diet alone – around 70% of women are calcium deficient; that number jumps to around 85% for teen girls! Calcium isn’t manufactured in the body, so it must be introduced by outside sources (diet, supplements).
My mom has been taking Viactiv for as along as I can remember, so it was my first choice for a calcium supplement. I've been taking 2 Viactiv milk chocolate chews daily, which gives me 100% of the daily value of calcium for most women plus vitamins D & K. I feel great overall and I enjoy knowing that I'm getting the minerals I need in a tasty soft chew.
Viactiv is part of the three keys to healthy bones:
- Obtaining an adequate daily dose of calcium from your diet
- Regular bone strengthening exercises
- Supplementing when diet is not enough
Viactiv is the #1 doctor recommended calcium chew and comes in milk chocolate, caramel and sugar-free milk chocolate varieties, each individually wrapped making it easy to take your calcium on the go. There are also new Viactiv gluten- and dairy-free tropical fruit gummies that are made for any age. Viactiv Gummies offer another tasty way to get teen girls more calcium into their diets.
Viactiv is available at stores nationwide, including Wal-Mart, Rite Aid, CVS, Target and Walgreens. Viactiv Gummies are available at Walgreens.
Now that I know that my body is getting everything that it needs, my next goal is to be {more} active with this girl in 2015—
My daughter and I spend a lot of time together, but it's not always "active" time. We could both use the fresh air and I'd like her to make and achieve own health and fitness goals.

Because of my Swedish heritage, I have to take a daily calcium supplement and it's great to know there are so many tastier options than the plain old pill type! Thanks for sharing!

Considering how both of my parents suffer from osteoporosis I'm always aware of making sure I have enough vitamins.
