Out of all the fun activities that I participated in during the Wreck-It Ralph press day, getting the opportunity to do a voice over session for one of the scenes in the movie was the most exciting. Like animation, there probably isn’t a career in voice over for me, but it was still an amazing experience that I will next forget!
Bucket List: Voice over session for a Disney animated film. Check.
During the session, I went into a one of the sound booths at Disney Animation Studios and read the lines from a scene with Vanellope Von Schweetz and Ralph — I, of course, played the part of Vanellope (voiced by Sarah Silverman in the movie). The real voice work for the film was done before the characters were even animated. I’m sure that’s because it’s easier with timing to create the character around a voice, versus matching it up post-animation.
Since the movie has already been created, you’ll notice my timing is really off– making voice over work harder than it looks! For some reason I was super nervous, messing up my first reading completely. Take a look … it’s worth a laugh:
And here’s the finished product:
While you won’t hearing my voice in the movie, I promise you will enjoy Wreck-It Ralph, which opens in theaters November 2, 2012!
